When we feel chronic fatigue, unwillingness to act, drowsiness, silence, these can be signals that our body sends us when it is poisoned and requires detoxification. Then other symptoms may also appear, such as frequent allergic reactions, insomnia, irritability, headaches, gastrointestinal complaints.

Cleansing the body

Every now and then - let's say at least once a year (preferably at the beginning of spring, though you can do it at any time) - it is worth applying a short-term diet that will allow detoxification of our body from harmful factors such as toxins resulting from metabolism, heavy metals and all kinds of parasites.

Regular detoxification of the body supports its functioning. This process is mainly about removing toxins from the body that disrupt the work of internal organs, and thus worsen our health and well-being.

There are many effective methods for detoxifying the body. However, the purpose of this article is to discuss general principles, not just dietary principles that apply to most of them. Knowledge of the basics of detoxification will allow everyone to create their own antidote program - tailored to specific goals and capabilities.

Detoxification of the body - What poisons us the most?

Where do all the nasty poisons that lie in our bodies come from, make our lives difficult and can make us sick? The list is very long, but these are their main sources:

  • Dioxins and pesticides - substances designed to combat so-called pests - insects or weeds. They penetrate into the soil, and from there they go to cereals, vegetables and fruits, which then reach our tables, or are eaten by animals, which we then consume;

  • Artificial food additives - it's mainly about preservatives, such as sulfur and nitrogen compounds, but also about other types of ingredients, such as glucose-fructose syrup;

  • Compounds of heavy metals - mainly zinc, lead, mercury, cadmium - which are found in the natural environment, and some of them - in much higher concentrations - in exhaust fumes and smog, which we inhale regularly;

  • Antibiotics - are invaluable when it comes to fighting bacteria in both humans and animals. However, their negative impact on the environment is rarely mentioned. Antibiotics that farm animals receive accumulate in their faeces, contaminating water and soil. On the one hand, they directly poison our body and weaken our immune system, and on the other, they contribute to the formation of bacteria completely resistant to their action;

  • Highly processed foods containing harmful fats and devoid of nutritional value - e.g. carcinogenic potato chips.

  • Detoxification - Health benefits

    The benefits of properly carried out the body cleansing process are numerous and very valuable. That is why so many people decide to undertake this difficult task regularly. First of all, when you detoxify your body you will feel much better and your body will receive a large boost of energy that will allow it to better cope with all threats.

    Your internal organs will be grateful for your effort, and your body will look much younger. Both the physical and intellectual fitness of the body, as well as the appearance of your skin, hair and nails will improve. These arguments should convince everyone to regularly undergo the detoxification process. It is worth adding that the effects are much more lasting and noticeable if we detoxify regularly, at least one to two times a year.

    Cleansing the body - The key importance of diet

    Detoxifying the body primarily requires a specific diet based on fresh vegetables and fruits - preferably if they come from proven eco crops - and still mineral water.

    Infusions made from carefully selected herbs are also great. Skillfully carried out detox restores our energy, willingness to act, improves the functioning of all our body systems.

    Cleansing the body should not start abruptly from day to day. At least 3 days (preferably a week or even 10 days) before the start of the detox should be completely excluded from the menu alcohol, caffeine, white flour, dairy and meat (including fish), sweets, carbonated drinks. These products can be eliminated gradually. The slow change of diet helps alleviate the unpleasant symptoms that may occur during the detox and significantly improves the whole process.

    Diet in cleansing the body - What to eat to effectively get rid of toxins?

    The body cleansing process should be accompanied by a properly composed menu. Don't move without it - you just can't cleanse your body otherwise. Yes, detoxification can be assisted with herbs, outdoor activities and special dietary supplements, but a strict diet is the basis in this case. However, in order not to fall into extremes that could harm us more than help, during detox you should eat scarce, but rationally.

    A properly composed detox diet lasting from 14 to 21 days can effectively reduce the amount of toxins present in our body, which will literally put us on our feet. Where to start? For the first 3 days you should eat raw or steamed vegetables, fruits, and drink juices squeezed at home, both fruit and vegetable. Then, so that over time our body does not run out of nutrients necessary for proper functioning, on the 4-5 day of detox, this initially very restrictive fruit and vegetable diet should be enriched with fermented dairy products. After 7-8 days, it is worth adding thick groats, wild rice and oatmeal to the menu. Two or three days later we include thin white cheese in the diet. On 10-12 days, you can optionally add lean poultry meat.

    It should be noted that during the antidote you must not eat any processed food, potatoes, sweets, or drink sweetened carbonated drinks (including carbonated low-calorie drinks), coffee, energy drinks, etc. Failure to follow this rule can lead to all our efforts being wasted . It is very important to prepare meals yourself, using fresh and nutritious products during the detox. Dishes that we can eat in the city, or on the road, qualitatively differ from those homemade, especially in terms of nutrient content.

    A popular diet supporting detoxification is the so-called juice diet. It involves eating easily digestible meals and drinking 0.5-1 liter of freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices for at least 14 days. This brings very good results.

    Often, an apple diet is also used to detoxify the body. We eat apples for the first 2-4 days. The pectins contained in them act as brushes and remove residual residues from the digestive system.

    It is worth including green tea, apple tea and apple juice in every cleansing diet.

    A cleansing cocktail diet is also very popular. It is used for about 2 weeks and consists of drinking 2-4 glasses of a cocktail made of kefir and fresh fruit every day. You should consume cereal products, and in the final phase of the antidote - possibly - lean meat.

    Cereals play a key role in the body's cleansing process. They can very effectively support the whole process. Which cereals are best suited for this? These are primarily cereals rich in silicon, such as buckwheat, millet (millet), oats.

    Body cleansing - detox support

    Although detoxifying the body is primarily a proper diet, this process can be supported in a variety of ways.

    Diaphragmatic breathing can play a very important role in the detoxification process. Did you know that over 70% of toxins from the body are removed as a result of the breathing process? One of the most effective, and at the same time the simplest, but unfortunately in Poland little-known and practiced methods of breathing is diaphragmatic breathing. This is how small children breathe. When we grow up, we usually stop breathing "belly". How do you get on with diaphragmatic breathing? Well, for starters, just sit comfortably with your back straight and put your right hand on your stomach - this way you will feel whether you are breathing in the intended way. Taking a breath, you fill your belly like a balloon and empty it when you exhale. Initially, we breathe in this way for 5 to 10 minutes a day. As you acquire this new skill, during the day try to consciously influence each of your inhalation and exhalation so that they become diaphragmatic.

    A healthy lifestyle is a very important element of any effective detox. During cleansing, ensure proper hydration of the body. You should drink at least 2 liters of water a day.

    Detoxifying the body greatly helps brushing the skin before and during bathing. This stimulates circulation and lymph tissue.

    A properly selected set of physical exercises can speed up the removal of overdue poisons from the body. The best form of physical activity in this case is one during which we sweat profusely - toxins accumulated in the body are released with sweat. Exercise should be adapted to individual preferences and you should absolutely not overdo it. If you do not exercise regularly, then you should not do it during detoxification.

    Detoxifying the body - What herbs support detoxification?

    Herbs play a very important role in detoxifying the body. Not only can they significantly accelerate it, but also can improve the digestive system. The most important herbs used in this area include the following:

    • Nettle - It is characterized by a diuretic effect, which enhances the process of removing toxins from the body along with urine. Nettle also prevents fluid retention in the body, which limits any swelling;

    • Green tea - An infusion of green tea has a diuretic effect, which contributes to the elimination of edema. At the same time, green tea has strong cleansing properties - removes toxins accumulated in the body's tissues;

    • Peppermint - Peppermint decoction has a slightly laxative effect. It helps to remove toxins and fecal deposits accumulated in the intestinal system. This property makes peppermint one of the best detoxifying herbs;

    • Milk thistle - Thanks to its detoxifying properties, milk thistle helps cleanse the body of poisons such as alcohol. It blocks toxins and works as a natural cure for liver cirrhosis;

    • Cistus - A strongly diuretic herb that helps cleanse the body of heavy metals. What's more, cistus turns out to be effective in restoring the balance of intestinal microbiota, which supports the body in the fight against various pathogens;

    • Lemon balm - It has a relaxant effect. Regulates the digestive system and protects the liver;

    • Chamomile - Anti-inflammatory and laxative herb. Helps to remove stool deposits in the intestines.
